Behind the Dunes.

Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “a house should never be on top of a hill. It should be of the hill, belonging to it. Hill and house should live together each happier for the other”.

Behind the Dunes recognises this, defying the archetypal of the area by seeking an intimate refuge that is sensitively connected to the landscape. The main residence located in Gnarabup, the seaside town next to Margaret River, hosts five levels in the modest 120sqm. The sequence of levels creates a timber terrain to clamber around, reminiscent of playing in the dunes. Expertly built to passive haus standard by Shelter Construction.
